Endorsements
An insurance endorsement is an amendment or addition to an existing insurance contract which changes the terms or scope of the original policy.
Endorsements are also known as a
- Rider
- Addendum
- Attachment
An endorsement can:
- Add or reduce insurance coverage
- Change policy provisions
- Change premium price after the policy period ends
It is important to note that endorsements vary in name and wording depending on the carrier so you must review the various endorsements for each policy and interpret them AS WRITTEN in the policy regardless of the carrier you are handling claims for.
